NC1E Blog site

Choose two from the following list and working in groups of not more than three, develop descriptions of the types of social software, in terms of who would use it, and what for.

Discuss the results of your investigations with the other class members on the blog your lecturer will advise you of, and post your final findings there also.

Your descriptions must not be any shorter than either of those above, and because there will many more of you contributing, I will be looking for more comprehensive descriptions.

Please use your own words for this exercise and don’t just copy and paste articles from internet sources. (I will know if you have done this!!!!)

Before you dive in and grab the one that takes your immediate fancy, discuss with the other groups in the class which group will investigate which type of software. This discussion should take place on-line, and I should not know who is doing what by having heard it spoken about within the room. How (which method) you use to come to a decision is your choice.

Choose from:-

1. Fan fiction (no lemon)

2. Instant messaging

3. Social bookmarking (eg del.icio.us / flikr / facebook etc.)

4. Virtual worlds and/or MMOGs (Massively Multiple on-line Games)

5. Folksonomy

6. Newsgroups or Forums

7. Social Shopping

8. Chat
